Week 2: Day 11 and 12

Day 11

A rainy afternoon.
In the library, I read Hopkins ('I greet Him the days that I meet Him,
And bless when I understand')
and Causley ( 'I am your life, but if you will not name me
Seal up your soul in tears but never blame me.')
I note 'The fullness of time' by James Stephens and am amused by
'The Seventh Angel' (Szenkel) by Zbigniew Herbert.

Day 12

I watch the twelve noon release of pine seeds
from the tallest tree.
They flutter out like a butterfly cannon,
and drift helplessly for a moment,
peering, before the trade winds take some off
into the woods, and others begin
their kamikaze spin
so, so far down to the ground.

Experiencing some significant downward surges of soul myself -
I am beginning to know that I just need to sit with them,
stay with them, and they will pass.
God will catch me!

Bernadette Farrell's lovely song 'Bread for the world' at Eucharist,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vf0epnwbHCY

Bread for the world;
a world of hunger.
Wine for all people;
people who thirst.
May we who eat
be bread for others.
May we who drink
pour out our love.
